0.5 SELF-CONNECTION: What is Your Current State?

Introduction: Your Current System

How do you currently plan for achieving your goals?

How is that working for you?

Are you the kind of person who sets an intention and achieves it? Or do you go with the flow with no definite purpose, or when you do set a goal you get lost along the way?

If you are taking this course as an aspiring and ambitious athlete, then you probably have some pretty good values about focus, persistence, a clear goal and a support system of coach and family to help you. Even so, you can get pulled off track.

Learning Objective:

In this lesson you will identify your current practices, habits and routines and look at how well they are working for you?

Activities: Whose Vision Is It?

OK, it's time to be honest. Are you living your own goal, or someone else's goal for you? If your values, beliefs or action are misaligned from your vision, then you will find a way to fail.

The reason we suggest your parents/guardian, mentor and coach be on this program with you is because your journey will be smother and more effective when you are all operating by the same principles.

The Helping Hand Strikes Again

You may need to re-evaluate who your friends are. Sometimes when a person starts to succeed, their friends challenge them, "Hey, Who do you think you are?" or, "C'mon, are you gonna be a goodie-goodie, or have some fun with us?" or "It won't hurt if you miss one practice. Spend some time with us. "These things may be meant as helpful advice, but whose needs are they serving?

These are the kinds of things people say if they feel threatened in some way by your vision. Their belief system may be challenged by seeing a friend striving for more. You will have to figure this out as your beliefs and behaviors become more committed and aligned with your vision.

Some players/athletes may try smoking, chewing tobacco or drinking, but is that the behavior of someone committed to winning?

What does that inner voice say?

Post-Assessment:

How well do you understand the effect of your current practices, habits and routines? How they are working for you? What level of results are you getting? Are you interested in an upgrade?

Summary:

This lesson helped you have an honest look at yourself. The next lesson will help you employ accountability partners to help you see yourself even more clearly and help keep you on track.
